Now that I am a little flush after the sale of my Scott Scale I have treated my other woman to a little pamper. Today I have fitted Hope head doctor, Hope Stem, Hope seat clamp, Hope QR's, Easton EC70 Carbon Seatpost and a set of XTR gear cables. Some pics the finished product I got that seat post Half price from CRC. On the way are a set of Blue Hope pro 2's on DT Swiss Rims from Merlin!!

The rear Hope QR doesnt fit my bike, the spindle isnt long enough. If I cant swap spindles with the original QR theres a red rear Hope QR going for sale.

I thought it was a standard size?

Nah what it is, the Active braking pivot system on the back of these Treks makes the frame that little bit wider at the back. To take the back wheel off you have to open the QR unscrew it and pull it out, then the wheel will come off. The screw nut on the other side where the QR screws into is fixed. So because its that little bit wider I think the Hope one is about an inch too short.
I phoned Hope to ask them if they could put a longer spindle on for me if I sent it them. They couldnt do it because they buy in all the spindles ready cut to size. need to find a vice and get all ninja on them! ;D

uuuum no, I think its all pile of horses ass to be honest, just another marketing gimmic. When you hurtling down a trail you dont float into your own little world and think ,ooooh this ABP is lovely.
It probably does work on some computer generated simulator program but to be honest anyone that says , 'Oh yeah its a lot better' are either the most hardcore bike tester or talking poo.
Thats my opinion anyway! ;D

Martin try this, i dont think you can feel it on the trails or even notice it. The ABP is designed to offer the least amount of caliper movement under braking. To try the effect of the caliper moving, nudge your front wheel on a wall, put the back brake on and compress the rear suspension. Note how it feels hard, now try without the brake on - you'll find the movement is unhindered.
Did you notice anything?
