I know I'm gonna regret this, 'cos as soon as this is posted, s*ds law is gonna kick in!
I've had brilliant luck and only had one trail puncture in about 4 years of (fairly infrequent!) riding. Now I'm either not riding hard enough, which is entirely possible, very lucky or there's something about tyre pressures that makes a big difference.
Given I was reading earlier about an unlucky forum contributor who'd suffered 5 punctures in 75kms, who has what advice about avoiding punctures?
For the record I run my tyres at 40psi all year round - tyres are Conti Gravity 2.3s.

I'm pleased to report that I also have had good luck, so far spare tubes here tend to be more likely to crack through lack of use than get damaged on the bike.
I put it down to three things
1 - Aforementioned luck! 2 - Never had full suspension bike so tend to be more careful about wheel placement. Tend to lift the bike over rocks etc with your legs. 3 - Was brought up on tubs which took half a day to fix and a week to clean the rim cement off your hands, so you ride around thorns and carry the bike if you cant.
Opinions being much like busses, another will be along in a minute :-)

Ive been lucky, I run my tyres at between 40 and 45 PSI all year round, found it a good pressure for me.
I dont skimp on tubes, never buy cheap rubbish, I tend to use Kenda tubes and have been brilliant. I tend to just change the tube on the trails and then fix them when I get home. I have a rule of 3 repair jobs per tube then it gets binned.

I run my tyres at 40psi. Usually Racing Ralfs or some other lightweight tyre. Only had 1 puncture in 6 years.
I think it is just bad luck mate.
Oh god, I hope I havn't just jinxed myself. Damn

As predicted s*ds law kicked in with a vengance! In the week after this posting I had 2 road bike punctures on Sunday and Monday and followed it up with an MTB pinch puncture on the rear at Llandegla on Wednesday. Did manage 55 miles on the Gore sportive without such bad luck though! I'll keep my gob shut from now on.
