I have a pair of 700x20c hardly used you can have, if you fancy a slightly narower tyre. Make is Clements a good but not popular make; colour blue. I've stopped racing Live in Glyn

Conti GP 23mm are a great tyre, I've run Michelin Lithion 23mm all year at 2 for £25 from Planet X, lots of grip, comfy & puncture free all season.

I've stopped racing Live in Glyn Thanks for your kind offer: however I think i should stick with the 23 width as I find that scary enough so a thinner tyre isn't really part of my plan.

I use michelin pro 3. Excellent on the dry but lethal if its damp/wet, as with any slick tyre really.

Anything by Michelin, Conti or Vittoria will be fine. Conti Gatorskins are a good durable choice or Pro3's if you're planning on going fast. If you're not racing and frame clearance allows then go for a 25c. Tons better ride quality and no real increase in drag.

OK thanks everyone for your advice, I have gone for the gatorskin 23s as they sound like they're puncture proof and i've been having a bit of a puncture trauma recently!
Dan i did consider the 25's but once you get to my level, every second counts ;-)

Thistle not really mate, I did my first organised road ride on Sunday, the Chester Challenge, really enjoyed it but getting too many punctures: hoping the new tyres will fix that.
Any other road events locally that people know about coming up?

Tour of Britain ride is soon, but the nearest one is over in Stoke.
It's alright, bit boring after a few hours and roadies aren't as friendly (maybe it was the hairy legs and the MTB helmet...)

the Stoke ride sounds quite good, bloody typical it's the day after the forum ride I want to go on! Are you doing Stoke thistle, you did it last year I remember?

Are you doing Stoke thistle, you did it last year I remember? Didn't realise it was on the forum ride day. I did the Stoke leg last year (the charity ride was longer than the pro ride ) but don't think I'll be doing it this year. It was alright but I didn't think it that well organised (no timing chips left, some missing signage) and the biggest ride I've done this year is only about 40 miles. If you fancy a weekend away there's a charity leg down south somewhere and one in London. The London leg seemed very expensive for what it was last year. The Ruthin "Merida" sportive isn't happening this year. Probably due to all the softies whinging about the course last year ("we had to go up this big hill at the end").

Conti GP4000 in the 23 is a real popular choice, the Gatorskins are prob a better option for an all round tyre thou.
