Decided to have a day off the bike today and take the dogs over The Clwyds for a walk. Thought I'd take the camera in case I saw a few from here out. Saw plenty of people out on their bikes, most seemed to be doing the 50Km route, but none from here. All of them looked well muddy, cold, wet and a little fed up The tracks looked in a bad way, with big puddlesall over the place. Even saw a Land Rover ambulance go past with the blues and twos going, so suspect someone came a cropper So how was it out there ?

Muddy as hell!!! Unfortunately I had bike problems and had to retire at the climb out of Cilcain - my freehub stayed free and I couldnl't pedal anywhere There were a few of us out today wearing our MBNW shirts - Me, Wrex and Priceyla along with a few other forum members, but not with jerseys. It was a muddy, slippy, slidy day but a blast going down the Mangler and the other downhils off the concessional just after Moel Famau. I'm sure the descents down Loggergheads and the other side were good too but didn't do them so can't say. I'm sure Priceyla will post up about it.

What a git for you Dave, bet you were gutted. Did you ask the bartender if you could try a wee bit of that ale and a wee bit of this ale? ;D (if you know what I'm getting at!).
Chris, I thought I'd read you were doing the Grizedale challenge today?

yeah gutted for you Davy, I didn't realize what had happened to you until I got home and saw your post, you seemed to have been going pretty well up until then too :-(
I enjoyed my first mtb event though, and due to the prophet being in bits I borrowed bev's hardtail, which proved to be the right bike for the conditions!
Well done to everyone who made it round in challenging conditions :-) I got home and had a bath, and after I got out of the bath I was still caked in mud, mental! Just need to decide where to race next :-)

I done the 50K Chris, everything was going fine until I got Cramp in both thigh's after about 30k. Managed to drag myself to the 37k stop where I munched my way through 5 packs of ready salted crisps.
And after 15mins in which time the salt had worked its way to my legs I was ready to slowly make it to the finish.
Ive never had cramp in my thigh's before what a horrible pain.

Cheers pricey i think riding in the Clwyds which is on my doorstep has made me strong to tackle the Clwyds and in those conditions which are the worst i have ever seen in all my years of riding prepared me physically and mentally. Another advantage i had was i a friend of mine told me that the the course was virtually the same as last because i did the 100k last year so i knew what to except. But well done to all for doing much an epic ride in the awful conidtions

I did the 100k is 8hrs Considering the conditions, that is not a bad time at all. I think most of us on here would be pleased to complete 100Km, never mind do it in 8 hours. Ponti, Those pictures are really good. Capture the mood at the beginning and just how muddy it was at the end ;D Punk looks like a kid with a new toy, I bet he was gutted to get it dirty ;D And no-one told me Monster was doing it ! I saw him in this picture next to Cherokee
