Normally all i carry in my camelbak is water but after receiving some free samples of these with a recent mail order i thought i would chuck a couple in the sack and give them a whirl www.highfive.co.uk/zero.phpThe taste was really nice, just a little flavor to the water which was more intresting than normal water but no where near as strong as something like psp22 which makes me wanna hurl after sipping it throughout a race. I'm thinking about getting some more of these just because the taste made me drink more than i normally would which is a good thing because i dont tend to drink much on a ride when i should be. Any way to my question - It says on the pack 'burn 41% more fat during excersise' but on the website it doesn't actually explain how they do this, are they claiming this over a normal carb drink? If so then the advertising is a bit miss leading. Can anyone explain this? Not bothered if it doesn't burn fat as they taste dam good and a few electrolytes are always good for you but if they did burn fat the it would be a bonus especially after getting called a Tele Tubbie today ;D

Dunno about the fat burning carp but they helped my survive the Big Ride back in the silly heat we had in June. Best thing is you can keep em in your backpack to use when you refill on a mega ride.

Dyls ive tried the nunn ones before, they tasted okay but i really liked the cherry ornage flavour in these high5 ones, i also have some berrys ones with caffine in them to try

i'm no expert oggy but after reading the study i think the gist of it is that some other, not all, carbohydrate drinks contain far more calories than this stuff therefore whilst your exercising your body doesn't need to use your energy stores, glycogen, fat etc because its got instant energy from the drinks. so when you use this stuff because there is hardly any calories in it, it turns straight to using your own bodies energy and fat stores therefore burning more fat, you'd be doing the same using plain water, but the water doesn't contain the stimulants or electrolytes of this drink. and 41% is not the amount of body fat burnt but the amount more than a high calorie sports drink would burn which isn't loads more but every little helps.like i said i aint no expert

I thought the whole point of an energy drink was to get as many easily absorbed carbs (therefore calories) into your body as quickly as possible?! Kind of renders these a bit useless as an energy drink??

Dont suppose they are ment to be an energy drink more of a hydration electrolyte drink. Seems a bit of a stupid claim to make that they burn 41% more fat. Never mind, like i said im gona use them as they taste nice and make me drink more fluid

its not an energy drink, more of a hydration drink, some have stimulants such as caffiene, taurine etc to compensate for the lack of cals and give you a spurt of energy, raising your thermogenic state and all that kind of stuff, suppose they are better for training than actual races, especially longer races where you'll just burn out
