Typical Halfrauds I'm afraid!!
They tend to know as much about bikes and servicing as I know about Polarization. I know there are some out there, from comments I've seen in the past, that are helpful/knowledgeable, but I'm yet to find one.

Whitch halfords was it?
It will be well worth an email to the headoffice and let them know the problems you have had with the bikes and the bad service from the staff. I would even go as far as email GT UK and tell them what problems you have had with the bike.
I never used to be one to complain about things, but i do now if something has really pi$$ed me off. Its annoying that people in these big corporate stores treat customers the way they do and get away with it.

Not what you want to hear, but i'm not surprised by your Halfords experience In my experience, all Halfords is good for bike-wise is picking up stuff like cleaner or lube. If you ever want to ask anything remotely technical then don't bother, go to your LBS or post on here Halfords are even worse at the weekend when the part-timers are in Legal disclaimer ;D Obviously this isn't the case for every Halfords store, just most of them
