Thinking about the pros of stainless steel bearings, they are alot more expensive than normal ones. Are they worth the extra cash and has anyone used them?

When I bought some new ones, I went for the normal chrome steel ones but a higher grade (better manufacturing tolerances). Bought a pot of 25 off the internet somewhere and were quite cheap. www.sxabearing-manufacturers.com/blog/?p=8 suggests that chrome steel is best unless you're concerned about corrosion in which case go for stainless at the expense of losing a bit of strength. It's very rare that I find a bearing has rusted/corroded - normally they are pitted or sheared.

I might try one and see how it holds.
