It's only been open a few weeks but the new Raven trail at Brechfa has already got it's first positive independent review. Mike Davis from Bikemagic.com visited the trail with top local guides and B&B operators Carl and Ivy from bikebrechfa. You can read the full review here www.bikemagic.com/news/article/mps/uan/6474 but basically they sound thoroughly impressed. The Raven expands on the big berm and jump theme already established by build team Rowan Sorrel and Brian Rumble, with even bigger features to push progressive riders to their limits. These maximum thrill descents are interspersed with some wooden 'shore' sections as well as traditional woodsy singletrack - although recent weather and Trans Wales use has left them a bit torn up. Overall though it's a super positive report, and with over 30miles of riding now in place at Brechfa it's well worth heading that bit further west

I rode the Gorlech Trail at Brechfa last summer with my fella, and I was so impressed. I think its the best trail I've ever ridden. The raven trail wasnt up and running then, but we'll definitely be heading back down there again in the next few months.

The raven is fully open now to.
Brechfa's super popular Raven, black run re opens after winter maintenance. The radical Raven black run has proved a super popular addition to the south Wales riding resume since the crescendo mix of jumps, whoops, doubles, drop ins and monster berms was first opened. Unfortunately the route - and additional singletrack opened since proved something of a victim of it's own success. Initial rider numbers were way higher than expected and these riders enjoyed Brechfa so much, they not only came back themselves but told all their mates to get there ASAP too. Unfortunately this trail traffic on fresh laid runs, combined with the unremittingly vile weather of last 'summer' meant several sections - including the new more natural singletrack pieces - just couldn't cope. The only option was to close some of the trail for emergency maintenance and rebuilding to cope with far more riders than anticipated. The great news is that Ed Sanders, Brian Rumble and the others from the Brechfa team, plus the hydraulic heroes of Lynne Jones Plant Hire Ltd have been working flat out to get the trails ready for riders this spring. We've just had the all clear now, so everyone who's been contacting us for information can saddle up and get themselves over to south west Wales ASAP to celebrate.
