New to mountain biking, had a crappy bike since I was 13 that I've recently gotten out again. Buying a new bike next week (recommendations welcome).
I live in Rhyl but have no transport, is there anywhere around here that I can get a bit of practise?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I don't know of any exciting MTB trails you can ride to from Rhyl. There might be some good places to ride around Llanasa/Dyserth.
If you don't mind getting the train to places, the Marin trail starts very close to the Llanrwst stations (or Betws y Coed) or if you're feeling fit Llandegla forest is 7 miles from Wrexham (but it's all uphill ;D )

We did a ride from Talacre last year that was a heck of a lot better than you could have imagined it to be but unfortunetly our chief scout for that area is out of action at the moment so you'll have to hang fire on that one

Welcome to the forum, there's a fair bit round the hills above Prestatyn, Craig Fawr, Prestatyn to Dyserth bridleway, some nice bridleways that can be linked together right the way to Halkyn and Moel-y-Parc and The Clwyds including Sodom, Marian Mills, Dyserth, St Beuno's paths and of course there's Cwm Forest which has planty of tracks round it and a few downhill tracks too (just make sure they're not shooting in there first).
Like Andy says above, I'm out of action at the moment but have been asked by a few members to do the "From the beach to the hills" route again this year. I'll hopefully be on the bike again soon, hope to catch out on a ride.

Thanks for the replies and wlecomes, I think I'll stick to small tracks and explore denbighshire while I build my stamina up again since I'm a bit pudgy at the moment haha. I definitely want to go to Llandegla for a few tutorials so if a 7 mile uphill climb is what I have to go through, then so be it.
Its great to hear that there seems to be quite a selection within an hours ride too.
Do you guys have an entry level bikes thread? I'm just wondering how much is too much to spend on one.
