Kids GO-Race N.Wales MTB Series

Im sure im not the only parent on here who has children that ride mountain bikes and kids like nothing more than to race!!
So i am posting this on behalf of Mike Tong of welsh cycling who works very hard to organise & run these races throughout the year
Details as follows:

Go Race, North Wales Series, 2011


The Series will consist of 8 mountain bike cross country races

Race 1: 16/04/11, Nant BH, Llanrwst, LL27 0JB
Race 2: 22/05/11, Coed y Brenin, LL40 2HR
Race 3: 18/06/11, Alyn Waters, Llay, LL11 4AG
Race 4: 17/07/11, Tree Tops High Ropes, Betws y Coed. LL24 0HA
Race 5: 20/08/11, TBC
Race 6: 25/09/11, Coed y Brenin, LL40 2HR
Race 7: 15/10/11, Llandegla, LL11 3AA
Race 8: 05/11/11, Nant BH, Llanrwst, LL27 0JB followed by the
presentation of the Series Awards

NB: Venues and dates may be subject to change

Signing on is from 9.00 am with the first race at 10.30 am, racing
should be completed by 2.00 pm.

Entry fee per race: £3.00 for BC Members, £5.00 for non BC
Members.
You can join British Cycling on the day if you wish.

Classes for under 16's down to the under 8's with separate classes
for boys and girls. Classes will be determined by the age of the
competitor on the 1st January 2011, eg: if you were 9 years old on
the 1st Jan 2011 then you will race in the under 10's throughout the
Series.

The race day will consist of a multi lap cross country race and then a
single lap time trial. Points scored from both events will go to your
overall tally for the day and towards your series standings.

Your 6 best race day results counting towards your overall series
scores (for both class and overall awards). In the event of a tie your
7th and 8th scores will be used to decide the winner.

Certificates will be awarded to the class winners at each race day
and trophies for the Series class winners and overall winners. The
presentation of the trophies will take place after the final race.

I laughed when I watched back the footage of Nathan sprinting to the finish line trying to catch your Robert (without success) ;D

Nathan's hooked now so gonna have to knock the Llandovry CRC on the head which is the same day as the next round.

PS. Mark you forgot to mention that you won the dads race ;D.

What a great start to the 2011 Go race series
Round 1 Was held at the Nant BH outdoor activity centre just outside Llanwrst on the doorstep of the marin trail

My son eldest son Simon has moved up to the under 12s category this year racing for Oneplanet adventure but still managed to take 3rd place in the race & won the 1 lap time trial
Meanwhile Robert who has moved up to under 10's managed 5th in the race & equal 4 th in the 1 lap timetrial
Great days racing for all involved

A big well done to Simon, especially as all the others in the line up look a lot bigger than him (and I should know how that feels ;D ) And racing for OPA, can't be bad, I hope they're giving him the top and some goodies

Good write up Mark , great turn out and good to see the kids having a go . Cracking series of races , please keep us up to date with the rest of the races . Did I spot Mum and Dad Price 2nd and 1st in the respective parents races ;D

Next round is this Sunday folks at Coed Y brenin on the Old visitor centre side where the Tarw trail is

Sorry for the lack of updates from Round 2 @ Coed Y Brenin but It wasnt a good day for Simon personally as he fell off on the practise lap and hit his chest on the handlebar end which resulted in a hasty trip to Dolgellau A & E but given the ok on no broken ribs just very bruised and sore for a while whilst Megan woody took 1st place in the U12 girls and Megan Roberts took 3rd overall in Under 12 Girls.

Yesterday was Round 3 at Alyn Waters in Wrexham
Simon was Fit and well again so with a Packed grid of over 20 boys & girls in the U12's race for 4 laps.
Simon Had a good start and led for the 1st lap and was only just passed by Jack Nash (NWMBA)on his new Whyte 19 Carbon hardtail making an appearance in readiness for next weekends British XC Race @ Margham park. Simon pushed hard and hung on the the remaining 3 laps and pushed him all the way to the sprint finish but just missed out on the line.
In the Girls Race Megan Woody rode well again and certainly getting to grips with this racing lark now taking great pleasure in passing plenty of the boys to Finish 1st with Megan Roberts (Gareth's Daughter) finishing second after another fine effort in the Race & the time trial Event

Well done to all riders, Next round is at the Tree tops High ropes Park in Llanwrst on July 17th
With over 50 riders entered yesterday it is proving to be a very popular & competitive series and growing with every race this year so far which is good for the sport and the development of young riders.
