Really didnt feel up to this at all this morning after a crap nights sleep so it was a struggle just to turn up. Hadnt been on the bike since IOM E2E 2 weeks ago either so just changed the tyres last night and checked it over. Didnt start off very well at all, couldnt get motivated and was getting frustrated with the way I was riding and the boggy shitty climbs/pushes (quite a lot of pushing for me as usual) were just annoying. I was down to do the long route but I wasnt enjoying myself very much so was going to bail at the split and do the short route. Met up with Gareth at the feed station and he persuaded me to carry on and do the long route so we just had a bit more of a casual ride (and more pushing for me) and tried to enjoy the fun stuff a bit more. There was a lot more singletrack and fun decents in the 2nd half which made it more enjoyable and some nice technical stuff too. Gareth slipped off the bike at one point and the cramp jumped in to greet him so we had to have a breather for him to stretch it out and also tighten up his cleats which had come loose. We carried on and made it to the finish without me getting cramp for once!! Managed to get round in 4hr 50 which wasnt too bad considering. Heres todays route connect.garmin.com/activity/118701600

cracking day apart from major skydiving incident where I was sat lil to close on the back wheel of the rider in front on a single track descent so didnt spot the tree that grabbed right hand side of my bar pitching me over quite a big drop luckily landed on shrubbery not rocks . took me about 30 minutes to straighten bars, seat and me. dead chuffed to of completed the 53 or so k & some cracking descents. Cherry on the cake was the free subscription to Singletrack magazine tucked in to my finishers Mug ;D. did the 50+ k in 4hrs 50 ish but didnt check my watch on finishing any one know if they are publishing the results

Cherry on the cake was the free subscription to Singletrack magazine tucked in to my finishers Mug ;D. Better than a free T shirt, or a coasater ;D Everyone seems to have done a decent time, especially considering the amount of stopping for crashing etc.

this was a well organized event and the marshals did a fantastic job on keeping us on route.
i did the 30k and found the route really hard and challenging, was glad to get to the end.
i came 10th over the finish line so got to be happy with that.

Damn it!!! Smartdata results have me finishing in 3 hrs and 32 seconds......VERY annoying when you're trying for 3 hrs. On a slightly better note I was 47th over the line and 16th in my category.....happy days!!

Sounds like a good event and the feedback is extremely positive. Let's hope they run it again next year.

I'm seriously considering a quick return to CyB to ride some of those brilliant off piste sections again before I forget where they are

Well, proper results are up, 145th out of 420 all up and 94th out of 254 for the 52km in 4hr 33min. Tough course but good fun, managed to lose the trail after blindly following about 10 others, was only after we'd gone up quite a steep hill for about a km and wondering for a while why no one else was around, we realised we'd gone off course Only one mild stack and a pinch flat were the only other probs, oh and those climbs seemed to never end. The best bits I found were just the ones that were part of the red/black Coed y Brenin trails, a lot of the reset seemed to be a bit grassy/muddy or road sections. Still managed the full course and no broken bones so a good day out! Good to see Daz & Jason there too!

35th over line for 30k for me and 10th in category 40+ 30k.
Not too bad considering how far back I started and how long it took to steadily make my way through the crowds.
