I'm going to bite the bullet and give my forks a service ;D
The SRAM technical manual says the upper seals need "grease", but it's any more specific about it.
Will any fork grease do the job or is there something I should be looking out for?
I could only find Stendec Easy Glide stuff on CRC, and the motor factors at the end of my road isn't open today (I need some 5wt oil too).

Personally I would use marine grease as it is designed for wet conditions so should last longer. I bought a tube from the bearing man in Llandudno Junction but I am sure you can get it from most places.

Stendec easy glide is good stuff, you hardly need to put any on the seals, a tiny smear is all thats needed, lots of grease just attracts crap, the main reason for the grease is so that you can easy guide the stantions in to the lowers without damaging the seals. Any fork oil from a motorcycles shop can be used, castrol seems to do the jobs, any probs then give me a shout

Colwyn Bay motorcycles had the oil but didn't have any specialist grease. They said they just use normal grease for assembly.
Even managed to buy a syringe in Colwyn Bay ;D

Just done a service ( seals , oil etc ) on both my Fox shock and fork . No problems so if anyone's thinking of giving it a go , just try it pi$$ easy with plenty of stuff on the internet with step by step guides . Although when the oil from the forks shot across the kitchen floor there was a bit of a oh shit moment ;D

Although when the oil from the forks shot across the kitchen floor there was a bit of a oh shit moment ;D I had a load of plastic sheeting in the living room which I hadn't got around to chucking out so I didn't have that problem ;D No problems so if anyone's thinking of giving it a go , just try it pi$$ easy Hardest part was trying to get a rag all the way down the tube to clean it out. Although I've not cleaned/serviced the real guts of the forks, they do seem better than they were before. Shame about all the pitting and wear on the stanchions
