Pretty certain I'll be heading up for Sunday's ride. Will put myself down for the 75 but like the other fair weather riders I'll drop back to 50 if it all turns to cack. Never ridden Ruthin before, from those that have done it in the previous years any tips as to what the terrain will be like or any other useful info? Have some Nobby Nics or some Bontrager Mud X's, not really sure which to use, and I've never gone tubeless before but I now have all the gear to do it and wondering whether it would be worthwhile doing it before the ride... Well, good luck to those doing it, anyone wearing the MBNW jersey so I can spot em in the crowd?

Less than 3 days to go....... My bikes in the shop being repaired, not been on a ride in nearly 2 weeks and my sciatica has decided to come back and haunt me. Apart from that my training is going great

Well my entry is now in for the 100. Don't worry about training, I've been away with work most of the last 2 weeks, and haven't done a proper big ride since the Marin-Penmachno epic

My entry is in also. Only the 50k as it'll be my first event. Praying for nice weather but predict a mud bath.

Woke up having put my neck out in my sleep! It had better fark off before Sunday, the weather's looking better as well, no showers now...it says on BBC anyway, which probably means it'll pour down.

I've got a tubeless kit, never done it before but reckon it would be worthwhile changing them over before the ride? Also, I've got 2 set's of tyres - Nobby Nics and Bontrager Mud X's, which would be better for the course?

I've never used either of the tyres you mention, but the one with "mud" in the title sounds ideal for the Clwyds ;D For tubeless conversion, I'd stick to brand new tyres if possible as older ones can be difficult to seal, especially if they are not tubeless-specific. Also probably a good idea to make sure you do a proper test ride before the big day as tubeless can be very hard to pump up again on the trail with a mini pump if they go down.

Hmm, might just leave the tubes in for now until I've got a bit more time to test them out a bit and get used to putting them back on/off. Cheers for the tips ;-)

According to the CRC marathon site the distances are 55k, 70k and 80k subject to change........ agg: on the tyre choice I used the nobby nics throughout last year and loved em but some hate em.... Its been dry here all week apart from a quick shower an hour ago so fingers cross the route will be dryish

Why do some hate them, too slippy in the wet? I suffered mega slippiness with the Racing Ralphs and Rocket Rons but never tried the Nics although at most of the short 1.5hour races I go in, most of the guys use them.

Not riding it this year as I've just not got enough miles under my saddle and I've been eating and drinking all week in Oxford ;D Good luck to all riders, especially those who haven't ridden the Clwyds before. I hope the weather is kind for you
