That was slippy! Came off 5 times. My mate Ifan had a character building lap on my 46, as this was only his second time on a mountain bike , having done Dragons Back at CYB once! Good to see so many MBNW chaps out (all passing me on the first climb! ;D) I seemed to get stronger by the time I got to the feed station, and was tempted to do the second lap with Dan B, but stuck with the plan of one lap only. Lower back hurting now though, so time to bite the bullet and get a 50mm stem so as I ride more upright, instead of the current 100mm item! Hats off to all the lads, for a top effort in treacherous conditions. You never knew if you were going to wash out on ice or sludge from metre to metre!

Really enjoyed that, it was a bit brutal to start, that first climb just went on forever, but the descents were awesome, so much variety. However there were plenty of hills as a reward :s
Good day all in all, well done to everyone, wasn't an easy day

Gutted I missed this The Close had thawed out enough by 9am but with it being a near 2 hour drive I didn't want to tempt fate and drive like a bat outta hell to get there with black ice etc. Not with my luck lately Lookin forward to any pics

Good day had all in all, the climbs were savage and so was the ice in places, the downs though were superb really worth dragging my ass round for. Had a good moan with Gareth on the start of the Second lap and up the first climb as to the things you sign up for on the Internet when sat in the comfort of your own home :-)
Good turn out and performance from everyone given the conditions a proper test of skill, looking forward to doing some more off Pisteing round there soon, some real quality descents. Well I'm off to bed totally forked catch you all soon ;-)

I'd be up for popping down with the 46 for the descents, when it gets a bit warmer and grippier!

Well that was a tough slippy slidey ride. Well done all that took part in the difficult conditions, great to see so many familiar faces at the start. There was a fair bit of ice around on the first lap, but seemed to thaw out quite fast and turn into proper gloopy mud. Was quite pleased to keep up with Mark on the first climb, but I think he was just teasing me because I never saw him again after that ;D Also caught up with Andy Braund on the third lap, although he also dropped me, with ease after a few minutes chat. Just managed to get inside the 4 hours for the 3 laps and the bit to and from the cars with a fairly steady pace. Only 1 off, but I think there would have been more if I'd pushed harder. I think there were some pretty speedy times from what I gather from the other MBNW folk I saw at the end. Here's my gps log if anyones interested sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/1917537?key=61b20cbccd1bb283ce69ac6472bb3f873c924243&ms=1Think I'll have to give the real Dyfi a go this year

Good effort all. Only managed 2 laps and that was enough. Descents were quality but too few.
Shot off quickly at end to get to Mach for start of rugby and roast dinner...not a bad way to finish an afternoon

good to see a few familiar faces out. Enjoyed the descents more this year fear factor dropped but the climbs never change, long but made up to get 3 laps done and going round on 2nd lap with punk and the 3rd lap with rupert kept of going. Done really well until 5 yards from the end of last descent hit the rut to hard and slid down the rest. Cheers to gareth for driving and mark and gruffalo for the in car entertainment. Same again next year. connect.garmin.com/activity/147674811

Great ride today...Big climbs super fun/sketchy descents.. Seemed to spend half the day sliding down and picking myself up from the mud...2nd lap was a bit more enjoyable as I knew what was coming. Though first climb was like something out of a nightmare... :-( A good introduction to what's on offer at Dyfi can't wait to get back there again.. Fingers crossed the trails will be dry and dusty by then
