Well I've been threatening to do this for a while and since I'm not getting any younger I've taken the plunge and signed up! www.sip-events.co.uk/kielder-home.htmlJust advertising the fact coz the more people that know the more embarassing it would be if I bottled out ;D. Let the training commence...............did the blue at Llandegla today does that count?

I quite like my long distance events, but I have to say the idea of this one doesn't really appeal. I think I saw a route for it (or one of the previous ones) somewhere, and it looked like a hell of a lot of fireroad to get the miles in in a reasonable time. Good luck with the training anyway.

I'm expecting a fair amount of fire road but I can live with that (there's a fair amount in the Dyfi). I think part of the course takes in one of the 7Stanes (Newcastleton I think?) so hopefully there will be some fun sprinkled in with the suffering!. I also know theres a 1.5km section of boardwalk over a bog!

There are some pretty serious racers on the mtb scene that this race has reduced to the verge of tears. You're either very brave or utterly crackers but either way, respect! Good luck with the training.

Have you read the 2011 reports on it? Verge of tears it a bit of an understatement. If it is wet it is pure hell, it has the Delamere type sandstone grit that can go thru a set of brake pads in seconds when it gets really wet, people were changing pads 8+ times during the ride then failing as they were down to bare metal and missing cut offs.
Good luck!
