chain slipping off/and gears not working correctly

hi everyone

i have been having problems with my mtb. for some strange reasons my change keeps falling off on the front crank. i have changed it for a single speed 36 teeth one. i did take some links out of the chain but then found i couldnt get all of me gears so i refitted them back on,so any help on that would be great?

2) i have also been having problems when change gears on the shifters. they move on the shifters but dont seem to move on the back straight away,there is always a delay and i have to operate the shifter for them to move,i have fitted new gear cable and have also tryed setting up the gears on the rear derauiler. would i need a shorter rear cage derauiler with fitting diifferent crank on the front?

any info would be gratefull

1) Yes that will happen with a single front chainring setup, you'll need a chainguide.

2) Cable sticking or cable a bit too slack is my guess, have a read of this >>

by chain gudie do you mean the bit that puts tension on the chain ? if so ihave one already fitted but i noticed it keeps moving postion doesnt matter how tight i do the bottom bracket.

i have got a drossiger full suspension. the crank i got is octane one single speed 36 teeth.
