Done this a few times over 10 years ago but the climb up from the cross roads is a pain in the arse but there appears to be an alternative.
When you get up to the cross roads on the bike and you'd turn right to go to the summit and the first bit is over mats there appears to be from memory a track on the left that goes up and when you look over from summit there is also a track down from there.
Probably not explaining myself very well but interested if anyone has ever done this and what it's like?

We parked at Llanfihangel y Pennant (some narrow roads to drive on) and then went up the bridleway to a flatish section where there was an old ruin (I think), its called Hafotty Gwastadfryn on the OS map, then went left on the track which loops around and joins the normal bridleway further up. This from memory is all rideable although adds distance.
I'd go down the normal way on the bridleway, doesn't matter if its steep in places on the way down.
