Went with my gf and the dogs to rhyd ddu forest today thinking it was an easy fire rd trail for them. At the top i found a really awsome single dh track, which is quite technical (especially in the wet), and quite long and very fast. I was well impressed! Though gf wasnt! Well worth a visit. On a dry day i d say you could get some searious speed down there! Any one else been here or know of any more s/ track in the forest? It s some where i definately have 2 explore in the near future.

Used to be my old stomping ground as i grew up in Beddgelert. Only used to do fire roads there mainly but there are some nice tracks like the one you mentioned. I don't remember areas that well but i think there were some nice tracks around Llyn Llywelyn and some leading upto/from Cwm Pennant at the very top of the forestry, think it might be called Cwm Du. Check out first Bikefax book, the forestry gets a mention in there. They used to use Begel Forestry for NEMBA championship stages back in the early mtb days

Yea mate used to race there years ago. There are some pretty good circuits and a few good singletracks as I recall and a good technical descent down a rocky riverbed, which can be ridden up as a tech climb. The forest is relatively small though so you need to do a few circuits to get some decent mileage in which is why I think I've not been there for a while. Good for a change once in a while though.
