Just got back from a spin around loop one in the dark. Really, really wet so much so it was just like riding a river bed all night. Lots of grip though and still fairly fast going. Had the official line on the status of the trails though, route will always be there as it's owned by the forestry commission. Trail centre was blocked by the town council because the proposal was for a privately owned affair whereas the council want it to be community owned. Seems fair enough. Just off to dig the gravel out of my eyes. ;D

We had a massive storm in Blaenau around tea time.
I can't remember the last time I finished a ride without any mud on my bike - it's been that long since I've ridden a dry trail.

Tonight was one of those where my bike was still clean at the end of the ride, too wet for the mud to stick. Probably our most rideable local trail when it's monsooning it down.

Dan, I had it from good source that the forest is not owned by the forrestry commision, but by the same private firm that owns llandegla forest. I hate penmachno in the rain, I've not ridden it for ages, Really cant make my mind up wether I like the place or not

Tilhill are a division of UPM (Deeside.) and may just lease the land?? Penmachno's a tough nadgery trail that never really gets it's flow going and it's definitely not my favorite but it was very rideable last night considering how wet it was. I'm just happy to get out where/when I can really. ;D Williat9- The best rides are the crisp winter ones, no point being a fair weather rider. Not really what mountainbiking's about is it?

Mountain biking's different things to different people. You can be a fair weather rider and enjoy it just as much as the die-hard 'its not proper unless you're freezing and covered in sh*t' masochist

I think we only get about two weeks a year when the trails are dry anyway don't we? Get yourself some warm gear and get out there in the wind and rain, you won't regret it! One thing that really pi*ses me off about this country is the fact that I can't ride my motorbike all year around (too ferkin dangerous.), the fact that I can go mountain biking in the winter keeps me sane(ish.).

I cycle whatever the weather, if i feel like a ride, and I already own the necessary warm gear & waterproofs. Sometimes, however, i dont feel like going out for a ride if its p*ssing it down and blowing a gale. There are things that i'd much rather be doing in that kind of weather; such as bodyboarding or drinking copious amounts in my local to name but two

Bodyboarding!? Isn't that just surfing for girls and small children? ;D ...and for certain chubby blokes like me who can't surf. Best feeling in the world, well almost, catching a huge wave. Dont knock what you haven't tried landlover. get yourself a wetsuit, and get out there in the wind and rain, you won't regret it!

Wakeboarding, sailing, fishing and kitesurfing(beginner.). I'm never happier than when I'm out on the water. Just pulling your leg on the bodyboarding bit mate, I did it down in cornwall after failing miserably to get the hang of surfing.
