It'll probably take you an hour and a half (ish) to get from deganwy to CYB.
You'd get to the Marin (Betws y Coed) and Penmachno in around 1/2 an hour. You've also got llandegla near Wrexham.
CYB is quite technically challenging in places, plenty of rocks, drop offs and steep downhills. It's also very good fun there.
Marin is faster flowing but I like it there.
Don't ride Penmachno that often but a lot of other people like it.
Don't forget Llandegla near Wrexham as well. Some good northshore there (or wooden things as I say)
Not much help is it! ;D If you've decided on CYB then you won't be dissapointed imo. As long as you are prepared.

Welcome to the forum Lee ;D You are looking at about 1.15hr drive from deganwy to coed Y Brenin, coedy is an excellent trail centre, if you want to do a ride that takes a couple of hours then do the MBR Trail there, if you can spare about 4 or 5 hours then hit the dragons back, both are excellent trail and are the cream of what coedy has to offer. A bit closer to Deganwy is the Marin trail at Llanwrst which is about 20mins from Deganwy, a good tail with some nice views that will take between 2 - 3 hours for a normal mountain biker to ride. If ya fancy some company post your plan on the form as theres always some one up for a ride and us locals will be more than willing to show you the trails.

Glad to see you've wandered on here from BikeRadar Lee I am one of only a few token Englishmen on here but the locals are ok, they don't bite too often ;D I don't mind crossing the border to ride with some of these lunatics. Plenty on offer in North Wales mate, as already said above. The MBR at CYB is a personal favourite of mine, and not impossible for a first-timer.

I'd go along with FTASB and say that the MBR is a good trail. just remenmber from deganwy your looking at total drive time of 1hr 30 mins ish to CYB. So if you've only got the morning to play with head straight to the Marin Trail only 15mins from deganwy. This was my first trail centre route and it's still in my top 3 trail rides great fun mate enjoy :-)

Hi, Thanks for the great response and sound advice. Been watching the vids of each trail on u tube, They look pretty cool, Will def do the marin trail and possibly the llandegra aswell. Coed y brenin is a bit far from where our hotel is, But if its amazing and much better than the other two then i will travel. So is it worth the extra mileage??
Also which bike would suit best hardtail or fs

Coedy is always worth the drive but thats because the marin is my local trail and i ride it a lot, im sure you will really enjoy the marin especially on ya first time
As for Hardtail of full sus, its personal prefrence really, all trails are ridable on hardtail and can be more fun but you can always get a bit more speed on the downhills on a full sus, what ever floats ya boat really ;D

Also which bike would suit best hardtail or fs I'd say Coed Y Brenin suits a full sus better (i've been twice on both types of bike and found it better on the full sus) Only done the Marin and Llandegla on a hardtail and it coped fine. Llandegla is quite smooth and flowing and probably suits a hardtail more
