Just wondering what people's opinions are on decent bike shops In the area? I need to remove the horst link bearings from my stumpjumper chain stay and a special tool is required, I went to the shop in Holywell by the garage and I had just the rear swing arm with me so it would be a 2 min job, but as usual when I go there for anything "it won't be until at least next week??!!" I politely declined with a view to maybe trying the shop in Llandegla, or perhaps slam cycles in kinmel bay to see if any of them have the right type of puller!
Anyone care to share any decent shops that they know?
Jon

Martin @ 1868 is good a mechanic. To be fair one of the lads in the halfords Rhyl was spot on but I can't remember his name.

I haven't had any work done at Slam Cycles but the mechanic seemed competent enough and certainly knew his way around a DH bike so I'd consider him. You could always try Rob at Better Bikes near Marine Lake in Rhyl, but call first to check he can accommodate you. Failing that there's always Cyclelife (Hughes') in Rhyl near Argos. They are all Cytec trained and I've gone there last minute having called them and they've sorted me out too. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice tried them all (with the exception of 1668 as a bit far out for me) and they all either can't do it or 69 in Chester can but want it till Wednesday and says its 50 quid to remove the bearing!!!!!!! Told him its totally dismantled but doesn't matter apparently, so on that basis a job that would take no more than 10min with the correct tool cost about £300 per hour to do!!!! Think I'm going to go into bearing pulling lol. I'm certainly gonna find the right tool and do it myself as the time/cost people want seems out of this world!
Off to find a micro gear puller set

Have a looksi at this guy selling on EBay as I had similar probs with the removal of my swingarm main pivot bearings. He mainly sells bearing-sets but had actually designed and makes the exact shape puller for my bike as it's quite an awkward shape swingarm. It might be worth sending him an email to see if he's either got one or could make you one for future maintenance? Look at this on eBay: Commencal main pivot bearings puller / press kit Meta Supreme Combi disc Furious bit.ly/X5r1QE

In all my years of biking i haven't come across any Decent bike shops.. They all think they can pull the wool over your eyes, and lack good customer care....

Thanks for all the advice/tips I have now made a tool from an m6 rawl bolt, socket and some washers!! It worked a charm, once figured out it took a couple of min to remove, indeed some of these shops think they can pull the wool over your eyes, well if anyone needs horst link bearings pulling out just let me know and il explain/show just how to remove them, it's really quite easy once you know how!! Oh and I won't charge £50 and 3 days lol
