Interesting that nobody yet has mentioned something like the TARW at CYB. I found the Tarw much more difficult and less fun that the MBR. The fire road climb is easy but boring - on a par with the Llandegla climb but no fun little bits. The technical bits were a bit too technical for me (first CyB trail I rode) and I didn't like the steep little drops that brought you out on roads! Ok it was a fire road but you couldn't see if there was anything coming! If I did it a few more times I think I'd get used to it. I did the MBR straight after the Tarw and despite being tired I found it easier because it was a bit more fun (even if I did fall off going through the start, broke a pedal half way around and had to walk through the river crossing!) I guess the Tarw is an example of lots of decent features shoved together, but not really a well thought out route. Like XM719 wheels, and hydraulic discs on road bike ;D

I must say I was quite disappointed by the Tarw, pretty tame with a massive fireroad descent, WTF is that all about? Turn right at the bottom of Rocky Horror Show to cut out the fire road loop. To add some extra mileage on that side of the road, at the end of Al's loop go straight over the fireroad then follow that singletrack for about 800m down to the next fireroad where you can again go straight over for another couple hundred meters of trail. Obviously you'll have walk down this singletrack gem due to it not being an official trail section. You come out about halfway down snap, crackle and pop. Doug, we're going to have to ride together more mate! ;D You should be a fekkin trail guide or something. Surely if you were to ride the unofficial singletrack fast enough then you'd barely touch the ground anyway. A loophole maybe?!

cannot understand marin and best trail being mentioned in same sentence tech sections too short and one too many fireroad climbs for my liking! coed-y-brenin sets the benchmark for getting your riding skills dialled ;D

Is this mark by the way?
