I think I will have second thoughts about leaving my bike on the decking outside the cafe from now on.

I suppose you feel safe because your around like minded people who love to bike and know how much bikes are worth so you dont expect to have bikes or kit nicked.
But on the flip side the place is easy pickings for bike thieves, not just degla but any trail centre. There have been a few times that Ive seen bikes sat outside the cafe in degla and its so easy to just roll one away with you.
if i have to leave my bike unattended at a trail centre It stays bolted to the roof of my car.

That's so bad. I always felt safe leaving my bike on the decking at Degla but it just goes to show that there are thieving gits everywhere.

That's bad news!... Three of my friends were in Grizedale last year and nipped into the shop at the centre, leaving their bikes outside against the window.. They were only in there for 5 mins and when they came out 2 of the 3 bikes were gone!.. One of my friends didn't know wether to be chuffed his bike was still left or gutted by the fact that the the thieves moved his out of the way to get to the others. I've always thought webcams at Llandegla are a good idea. Infact i did mention it to Katie once but never had a reply about it.

Ive got a roof mounted bike carrier on my car. I was going to buy genuine SAAB roof bars until I found out they didnt lock to the roof. I got thule instead. The bars lock to the car, the thule bike carrier locks to the rack, and the bike locks to the bike carrier. At least that way they will have a job to get it off. However, Im sure they have a method for cracking them too

Always surprises me how many bikes ive seen left on the decking at Llandegla after night rides. Must be some very trusting people about, the car park is totally black.

Scum bags Last night ride we did at Llandegla, when we came out from cafe myself and jlr59 were only saying about our, and other bikes being left outside in the pitch black. Unfortunately not all people are as honest as most (hopefully all) on this forum, think cctv is required at all trail centres and I think I am now going to start locking my bike up before going into cafes. There is a lot of money sat around when you think about it, and like people are saying, it doesn't take the thieving b@$t@rd$ long to have them away.

I guess I'm gonna start going and locking the bike to the car before going in the caff for my cuppa (I'm one of the many who go in just leaving their bike propped up against the centre or a rail). I have in the past seen some riders take bikes off racks and then lock the racks inside their car and thought they were being over-cautious - don't think that now do I Thieving scum want their hands chopping off

yes i too think cctv is the way forward, and one facing up towards the carpark from the road to record faces and reg numbers. shudder to think what would happen if someone was caught in the act in the car park and then faced with a car park full of angry bikers!! haha actually i dont shudder, it would be just what they deserved!!
