Sounds good I did it last year not long after I started riding again was very hard going, Did Tarw trail last month I did not find it as hilly but some very rocky sections, will be over in a few weeks will try MBR again see how it feels now I've been riding bit longer.

Would you say the Tarw is as rocky/technical as the MBR?

Would be hard to say I'm a much better rider than I was than would have to ride it again to really say, What I can say is the final section of the tarw which I think they call Pins & Needles is outstanding even on my hard tail to say its rocky is a understatement well worth the ride.

Depending on your fitness level of course, I wouldn't say that the MBR is that physically demanding compared to the Marin or Penmchno say, but it is more technically demanding where you have to be careful you don't come off.
For those that have been to Llandegla then, how does the mbr compare distance/climb wise and technically to the black route?
I generally prefer more flowing tracks than the mbr but it's a change to the Marin/Penmachno that I usually do.

3 hours. Although that was with a fair amount of stopping I did warn you! It was good to put some faces to the names, meeting up with Sikora & Xybadog. I thought it was an awesome day out. The timings went to rat shit though - our drive turned up late this morning then his sat nav took us on a nice little detour just past Bala along a single track road in the middle of nowhere, through numerous cattle gates (nearly running over the cows & sheep), and an old MOD firing range (complete with signs that said "DANGER EXPLOSIVES" ). In the end, i think we set off through the giant forks that mark the start of the trails at 0945 ish. Within 50m we had our first off, with Rob deciding to jump off his bike and check how hard the rocks were. He's got a nice set of bruises now. The trail was slightly wet, which resulted in a few more capers with Curley having 2 offs over his bars, Dave having 1 off, and me & Xybadog getting a nice chainring rash on our legs. Sikora reckoned he just wobbled but i'd definately call it an off when he fell sideways into the ferns ;D. I think Keith was the only one with no (reported) accidents. It was hard work today and I'm knackered now. I'm sitting here at home, struggling to keep my eyes open and dribbling into my cup of tea. ;D I thought the pace was ok, with everyone of a similar ability, what do you reckon Sikora & Xybadog? A few photos from today - The MBR TrailCan' wait for the next one ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Having a relatively low fitness level , i thought the MBR was both more physically and technically challenging than the Marin Trail, but also more rewarding.

I bet you kept expecting an undead Jeremy Beadle to jump out on you.

Some excellent photos there. Was that your first time doing the mbr? Seeing your Orange makes me regret selling my Rift Zone.

Today was my second time on the MBR, loved it ;D That's my mate Dave on his (orange) Orange in today's pics, the downfall of being the cameraman is that you're never on any of the photos I think there's a pic of my bike all on it's lonesome while Xybadog changes a tube

What really got me about today was the fact I chose to take "back-marker" and everyone slowed me down. I didn't wanna get off my bike at all but the slowbies in front of me kept making me stop and rest, and walk uphill ;D ...but seriously though folks, it was a great day out. It was very technical for a red route. 10 times more difficult than the red at 'Degla, but it was fun. I'm aching so much now. Mainly my hands and arse, both from gripping so tight. Weather held out for us too. I don't agree with ftasb about the 3 hours...I think we actually managed to do it in 35 minutes...NOT!!! Thanks for a great day out guys. ;D

Brilliant, good to hear you all had a good day, some cracking pisc too. Nice to able to put some faces to names. Gutted i could'nt make it but there will be other times hopefully between now and the 1st forum ride.
Its also interesting to hear other peoples opinions on the trails, like xybadog saying it was much more technical than the red at llandegla.
Hope to get down there again soon myself to give the MBR another bash with out snapping my chain 100m in! I just don't know my own power!! ;D
