How hard was the trail

It was pretty hard. There was a biatch of a climb from the start (which wasn't part of the other laps), then a big long drag of a climb on fire road followed by a steep, slippery, muddy singletrack downhill. Then a bit more fire road going down, a gentle but very slippery singletrack climb then an undulating bit of fireroad (with the wind behind you!) before the next lap started. The only really technical bit was the singletrack downhill: I came off there and tumbled down for a bit! Davydonn got rear ended on it and I'm sure a few others came off on it as well. I found the first lap a killer, but after that I knew what was coming so the other laps weren't too bad and I'd got into it by then.

Yep, PICS of my kids would be great 77 & 78....although they walked most of the way so catching them on the bike might be hard!!

I think Helen is putting the photos onto www.macnibbler.co.uk cos there is a link there now (that wasn't there last night). The link takes you to an error at the moment but I'm guessing the photos are being loaded up as I type! Look under EVENTS for the pics that might be there in the next couple of hours.

why is Dan pushing ! Because that hill was slippery as hell for the first two laps and running was the quickest way up. That was at the end of the second lap (pre-puncture ) and those two blokes were hot on my tail. ;D Bloke with the beard/abundance of hair was the eventual winner and he seemed pretty fast fair play, don't think I'd have kept up with him anyway. Suffering today, man do I hate falling off!!!!

interesting event that. never done laps before and i must say that the last two laps were hart breaking found it hard to carry on. was glad to get to the end as my knee was killing me for some reason. really enjoyed the down hill bit, it was very soggy and slippery but fast as fook. enjoyed overtaking people on that bit ;D i was no 123 and i think i did it around 3.07.

Those are excellent PICS. Crumbs he's got nearly everyone and in the right order too!! Thanks, it was the first time I've tried to properly photograph an event (I'm usually competing myself), but I was under doctors orders not to race so thought sitting on the sidelines trying to capture a decent shot of everyone was the next best thing. It looked as though it was a good event and everyone was enjoying themselves. I would rather have been the other side of the camera, but it all went well from my point of view too. It's good to get some feedback on the photos and to know what people want from such things so thanks for the positive comments. Hopefully I'll be racing again myself soon but I enjoyed myself behind the camera so will do it again soon. Al.
