Well done to all who competed! (Hard luck to Dan, who was leading until that puncture/valve issue!) All this talk of hills makes me glad I was doing the timing. No such excuses for the upcoming Merida. Damn.

Yup great event, and nice to have something local. True, the lap format was a test of character and was an achievement to finish the course. I think it was Dan that was with me and the lad that won when in the lead, but something happened , there was a funny noise coming from the back end of your bike. The bearded lad was a strong climber and his full susser sure gave him an edge on the decents. I lost contact with him on lap 4 but hung on to 2nd place. Hope it's on for next year :-)

Hope it's on for next year :-) Yep that was me mate. ;D I was trying to slow the pace a bit on that second lap after getting a bit excited on the first and flying off like a prat! ;D You and the beardy bloke were both pretty strong on the hill but at that point I assumed you were strongest. I was gutted, split my rear tyre and that funny noise was the sealant trying its best to seal the hole. In the end I had to stop and fit a tube but I couldn't get the tubeless valve out and had to borrow two pairs of pliers from the bloke at the start/finish. Lost 9mins there and my head went.

I quite enjoyed the lap format, made it feel like a race rather than a ride. It's hard to describe but it was just quite a lot of fun having to do the same horrible bits time and time again.
Beardy bloke lapped me. You're right about him being good on the climbs - he flew past me on his final lap going up the hill! (maybe 2x my speed?)
I think if I'd had a puncture I'd have lost all my motivation. Not had one yet on an event so I'll have 5 on the Merida now ;D

He must've held a pretty steady pace for the whole event looking at his finishing time, very impressive. Got me thinking about my own speed up that hill and you can see how I slowly drop off as the race progresses. Elevation profile-

Dan which Garmin kit you using? i like the info you get from it. I've got the Edge 705 mate. The training centre software is fantastic, can do allsorts with it.

Cheers mate, how is the mapping on it? do you use it that much? certainly looks like a worth while investment just a bit pricey.
