That is a good price. I noticed the braided hose (or hoe as you said...you were lucky ) I like the look of braided hose. I think it finishes the bike off nicely.

depends on your reason for upgrading. weight saving how it looks or performance.
you're probably best to ride the bike for a while longer, see what you like & don't like about it, even wait until you've ridden through winter, as you'll have to upgrade bits out of necessity rather than choice.
I started on a lower spec HT than you & went for forks then brakes as my first major upgrades, but had all sorts of things go wrong in between which all cost.
lighter wheels & tyre choice also are a wothwhile upgrade.
I'd wait until your headset & drivetrain wear out before upgrading.
probably spent twice as much on clothing kit as I did on bike bits in my first couple of years!
all this is irrelavent if you're minted!

Wish I was minted Santibes Totally agree about waiting to see what goes first. I'll prob only change small, cheaper things like clamps and skewers etc for now. I do use the bike for commuting as well and have thought about a set of Mavics, spare rotors and cassette so I only have to change wheels instead of changing wheels and tyres when going from slicks to knobblys.

The juicy 7's on my TREK were shocking so I decided to change them while the juicy's were still new.
Got the hopes fitted and more or less got my money back by selling the juicy's on ebay.
I like hope's, so easy to maintain and fit and virtually trouble free.

It's strange, before I got my bike I heard that Juicy's were the b0ll0cks but since I got the bike I've heard Hope are much better. I've only got the Giant MPH Hydraulic stock disc brakes on mine, which have got a good write up, but I'm glad I didn't ask my lbs to put Juicy's on when I bought it.

Well...I'd thought about a road bike for the commute, but then I just thought either spend on upgrading the XTC or getting a FS. Gonna wait and see for a bit.

Buying another set of wheels for road use is a good idea. Something i've thought about myself but not got round to doing. At the moment i'm struggling with my Mountain Kings on the road
