I've got standard spec on my bike, apart from new Titec Hell-Bent Loc on grips, Shimano Spd' and Schwalbe Spezial 1.5 slicks for commuting (still got the stock Kenda Nevegal knobblies for when I go off-roading) . My bike's a Giant XTC4.5. What would you get rid of and for what?

...also, everything's a bit grey and boring, that's why I bought the red bottle cage to break up the grey and add a bit of colour.

Seems like a good set of parts there. Ive always replaced parts that have annoyed me when rideing for example I have just replaced my avid juicy 5's for a set of hopes because the damm things just wouldnt stop rubbing and hope have to be the best brakes out there in my opinion.
Also thinking of getting a shorter stem soon as my ride postion feels a bit stretched.
Is there anything that you dont like about the ride feel of your bike?
Shiney bits are always a good investment, like hope skewers and seat collars.
Dont no what your saddle is like but ive just bought a charge spoon in white which is exceptional value at around 20 quid.
Also been considering a set of Easton EA70 bars.

Yeh, I'd thought about changing the skewers and seat collars too. Not black though. I wanna inject a bit of colour onto the bike. I have seen a couple of tidy seat collars. Are the skewers easy to replace/fit? Also been looking at new stems. Seen a few but not sure which brands are respectable. The saddle is a basic Giant. Not too uncomfortable but not the best. I've been looking at the Charge Spoon as it's had good reviews. Is this the one you mean, as thy do that in white?

Thats the saddle i ment but when i type the name it comes up as that charge spoon for some reason? Its a real good saddle for the price I really like the hope skewers www.hopetech.com/products/bot_04.htmThey are just a straight swap for the olds ones, simply slide the old ones out and slide the new ones in. Theres loads of quality stems out there Raceface, Easton, hope and Thompson all make good gear but theres loads of other quality brands out there

I cant wait to upgrade the Juicy Three's on my Rockhopper. Will hopefully be ording some Juicy Carbons on friday. I've already upgraded my tyres to Continental Mountain Kings and my pedals to Shimano DX. Other than that, theres nothing i really want to change. I could probably do with a bit of a longer stem, but its not an urgent thing to do. One day i'll have a pair of Fox Float's, although my Reba's are more than adequte. Maybe on my next bike

Thanks Yeh it has a lockout rear shock but ive got very wide tyres on it that drag like hell so it is rubbish on the road. Its great off road tho, even on the uphills.

Ive upgraded one or two things on each bike. I bought my SCOTT early 2007 to go out to Cyprus, While I was out there on days that boredome kicked in I found wiggle came in handy! I upgraded to carbon seatpost and riser bars HOPE seat clamp, head doctor and bar end plugs, took the XT hydraulic brakes off and replaced them with HOPE mini's, and Ive just bought a new Easton stem.
Not changed a lot on my TREK, the Bontrager tyres had to go, they were deadly on the tral, swapped them for the Conti Mountain Kings. The Juicy 7's had to go before I smashed them with a hammer! They were always rubbing. Swapped them for HOPE's front and rear, had to have the colour coded blue floating rotors. And ive just changed the handlebars for easton risers that are a little wider than the standard issue I got with it.
Most things I Took off went on ebay to fund the replacement parts. Its well worth looking on Ebay there are some really good deals out there!
