I think "struggle" its too much of a strong word really. I just found the Specialized Fast Traks that came fitted on the bike alot easier for road use than the Mountain Kings.
I also cant see the Mountian Kings lasting too long on Tarmac either.

No, I don't think they are very hard wearing, I try not to ride mine on the tarmac, Ive noticed quite a lot of wear in after just a few rides, I'd put another set on though.

Well i've put my brake upgrade on hold. Bought myself a car instead Actually means i can get out on the bike more often. I'm only working Monday to Wednesday at the moment, so the missus has the car on Thursdays and Fridays (She works round the corner from me, so drops me off monday to wednesday) I'll now be able to get out to the likes Llandegla on my days off - When its at its quietest too Was actually having second thoughts on the Avid Carbons too.

I'm pretty happy with the standard kit on the Orange. The only thing a need to change really is the rear mech because the cage is bent.
I am interested in getting a few 'bling' bits but there's no rush.
First thing on my list it to get myself kitted out with some decent MTB clobber.

Yeh, that's what I've been thinking about too, the clothes. I need some footwear, definately a jacket and a Hydro pack. I bought a cheapie from Tesco and it was cr4p. The bladder always had a horrible taste (well the water that came from it did (I didn't try licking the bladder!) and it could hold virtually nothing. A few tools, camera and that was it. No space to put a jersey or jacket in. So it was a false economy really. In fact when I went to Llandegla last week I took a drink of water from it before I went on the trail, it tasted yuuuuck so I promptly deposited the bladder in the visitor centre bin!!! Good job I took a bottle with me
