I can only echo everyone else's comments, that was brutal About 80% fireroad climb and 20% singletrack downhill, which was mostly loose slate, and over before you knew it. The amount of people I saw changing tubes was unbelievable. Some All of those climbs were truly strength sapping and seemed never ending. Well done to all those that finished, because from what I saw, there were quite a few people pushing back with bits of broken bike in their hands. Thanks to Iwan (iwang) for the company on those leg busting climbs after the feed stop. Glad I didn't hold you back too much. I was even surprised to see some long dark haired girl waving to me on the start line, I did think my luck was in untill I realised it was Ema Good to see so much support from people. Also great entertainment on Sunday night, had a blast. Thanks. Oh the ride wasnt bad either, 3hr 40m + 53rd o/a Big improvement from last years 5hr 50. Will post some pics when I get home, sun is too nice here to leave. That's a serious improvement there Mark. That bike of yours is a lovely thing too Looks like redkite had 1 too many last nite too! Only the one too many I think she's still paying for that now Althought I did hear her mutter that world famous post drinking phrase earlier "I'm never drinking again" ;D I'll post what pictures I took later. Does anyone have a link to the many photographers that were scattered around the course ?

That was rideiculas! I don't think I've ever done that much climbing in my life. At least some of those downhills were worth it. Starting to feel slightly better now. I think I'm guna spend the next month downhilling to make up for it

Looking at the GPS track now, I make it 52.2km from the Start in Mach to the forest finish, 62.7km in total back to Mach. I will be very interested in my final position as not far from the start when we turned off into the lanes at the bottom of the first hill Davy and I stopped to help a guy on a Jones (complete with front fat tyre) so when we started off again we were right at the back of everyone in the event, so it will be interesting to see how many people we passed along the route, for me mostly doing the passing on the downhills as there was lots of mincing on the go either at the start of them where lots of people wanted to stop and faff about pre-downhill or on the sections themselves where there was lots of mincing going on even to the point where there were people taking any line to avoid muddy puddles (WTF) It was quite fun with Craig, he'd pass me on a climb (benefits of youth and less weight) only for him to pass me again, again & again on the next climbs as I'd somehow pass him on the downhills without either of us noticing each other. First time Dyfi Enduro for me and first time I've done an MTB Enduro since the mid 90's so I'm quite happy with a 5:15 ish time as my focus was on completing it and feeling like I could do the same again on three consecutive days, have I mentioned I'm doing www.flattyresmtbroutes.com/ABigRideForLittleLives.html today at all? Thanks to Davy for the company in the car and the no doubt awful helmet hair photo and thanks to everyone else who attended to make it a great day out. Off to consult the GPS track now to suss out all the singletrack sections

What a weekend! Body is recovering from post ride party, needed plenty of rehydration. Oh the ride wasnt bad either, 3hr 40m + 53rd o/a Big improvement from last years 5hr 50. Will post some pics when I get home, sun is too nice here to leave. Looks like redkite had 1 too many last nite too! That a serious improvement, well done. How was the bike? Thanks, To say im pleased is an understatement ;D ;D ;D My First sign of a any real big improvement in my fitness, The bike is fantastic & climbs like a rocket, it comes downhill pretty good too ;)I thought the day was lost when the back tyre went flat at the end of the first long rocky decent, got the wheel off and found no major damage so tried a Co2 cannister in itand it inflated immediately and stayed up for the rest of the day!! I Kept going at a decent pace all day trying not to over do things so i wouldnt blow up but got caught out at the feed station munching flapjack by oggy as he rode through!!! so didnt hesitate to get back on his wheel for the rest of the day. Weather was perfect i thought with no rain & no to hot either. Had a great time down their with the family and the MBNW crew. After a shower, My lads dragged me off to show me what they had found round the back of the rugby club that day whilst i had bee out riding, They had been practising this jump with a few other boys I was quite impressed with them both & can see Xmas this year being more expensive as there both asking for mountain bikes!! ;D Post ride drinks were plentifull Here was our resident DJ for the weekend playing plenty of reggae tunes to chillout to Redkite once she found her taste for beer!!! I forgot to get a morning after pic The plastic tub outside their tent could have told the whole story really!!! Thanks everyone for a great weekend of riding & socialising ;D Ps Oggy, My lad really appreciated your lesson in the correct application of chamois cream, Im sure the knowledge & vision he know has will come in useful for him sometim in his cycling career!!! ;D ;D
