Well after last weekend ride out with the lads on the off piste Marin ride, I'm looking for a new set of tyres for the enduro? Present tyres are panaracer fire cc pro 2.1 do I join the maxxis club?

Tyres, let the debate begin ;D I reckon High rollers are pretty good as an all rounder maybe not the best in the wet. There are a few people on here swearing by mountainkings but apparently there is a massive diffrence between the tubless and non tubless, with the tubed version being crap. Ive been using these in a 2.5 for a couple of years now, great all rounder but a little thin and are prone to rip www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=33298Looking for an all round trail tyre for my new build tempted to try the weirrwolf UST in a 2.3 It really is a minefield

Cheers for that Oggy only problem I don't know if I can for a 2.35 on the front because of the clearance of the forks.

Pretty sure you wont have a prob with a 2.35, there aint many forks that wont take a 2.35 Yeh John is okay, he got out of hospital but is now just sat there with his broken collar bone waiting for it to mend. He should be ready in time for this winters off pisting

I swear by this tyre now, got a Minion F on the back too. Thanks to the wise and omnipotent Obiwan Kenobi putting me onto them They're draggier than Danny LaRue on grass but absolutely excel when you need grip anywhere else. You need to weigh up if grip or rolling resistance is your main priority.

I'm going through maxxis' catalogue at the moment trying to find something that suits me. A couple of years ago i'd have pointed you at the crossmark for something fast rolling and sticky on rocks but it wore out quickly, was rubbish on mud and the replacement one doesn't seem to grip anything.
I found high rollers better in mud but drag more although i've had the front wheel go a couple of times when cornering which never happened when i had crossmark's or the advantage (but i might just be riding harder ;D )
i think it's a case of use someone's recommendation as a starting point, see what you don't like then do some research to find a tyre that claims to address that weakness. Experiment with pressures too.
If you've got mountain bike suspension forks you should be able to get a 2.35" tyre in. One 2.35 tyre might pump up noticeably skinnier than another 2.35-something else to look out for!

Minion is a very grippy all round front tyre, would leave the 2.1 fire xc pro on the rear, or if you feel you have to swap both then a high roller will do a grand job all round on the back. Had 2.35 ignitors front and rear on the prophet and they were good too, although a mate had 2.1 and hated them. Never had any trouble with any of the 4 mentioned above, never tried swalbe though so cant comment. Tyres are a case of "suck it and see" im afraid, one mans meat is another mans poison, no definative answer mate.

Not quite strictly true as the tubed German made black chilli compound ones i.e 2.4 Protections, are just as good as the tubeless (i've tried both) however, you're right about the cheaper non german (made by licence) MK's they are poo
