OK folks another year is nearly over and we'll all be setting our own goals for the new year ahead. For me as always I've not ridden as much as I'd wanted but fingers crossed them tyres get dirty again soon. So the question is what has been your biking highlight of 2012? Is it riding your first forum ride, making around a trail centre for the first time, tackling that descent you've always wanted to get down, the ride that you met new friends or some multi day epic? So give it some thought and please share. It would be nice for pics/links if possible and lets hope it inspires someone else to take up this great hobby of ours and happy christmas from me

Off the top of my head then it would have to be both the 3 day weekend in Scotland with Mabie, Ae and Kirroughtree or the more recent weekend in The Peaks as both weekends were packed with riding with plenty of laughs with a cracking bunch of people...links to follow,

I might not have ridden loads this year but there were loads of highlights, from riding the Dyfi Enduro (the World Cup Descent - and that lovely beer near the finish), riding loads of new bits including Delamere, bits of the Clwyds, any Summittoppler ride and the Marin Twisted trail from last months forum ride. But my favourite has to be this because it was the first time I rode out on my own, albeit it was on sections that I knew. It all took on a new meaning knowing I was on my own and no one was going to pick me up if I fell off:-/ Oh and I got absolutely filthy ;D Here's the link northwalesmtb.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&post=90268

Agree with Voodoo on Scotland...all round a quality weekend but most memorable part being it's the last time I can remember riding with the sun on my back for the full day. Weatherwise it went downhill after that Also a good shout by Russ...Degla to Prestatyn with everyone arriving in one piece on the prom. A challenge ticked off the list and hopefully a ride to be repeated in 2013. From a pure giggle point it has to be Simon's puncturegate on the Long Mynd...if only Jack was there to witness it Hopefully in 2013 we'll get a proper summer and the list will be much longer next year

Oh I forgot the Dyfi, made a nice change for me waiting at the end for everyone else to turn up even thou I'd stopped for a beer on the way.
I've got a gem of a route that will be a contender, ready for a select hardy few once it gets dry enough in 2013.

I didn't get out a great deal either. Really enjoyed the forum rides with summitoppler I beddgellert and the last one in betws led by oggie. My highlights though we're the same as voodoo we had a great time in Scotland really enjoyed that. I think the peaks was my favourite. Great natural riding with the same excitement of trail centers. I've stopped smoking for a month now so am looking forward to keeping up a bit better now. As most people on the forum I've got a busy life with family and kids so if I just manage to come away a couple of times a year and do quality riding like we did in 2012 with all you cool folk, well that will do me. Cheers everyone.

For me it was watching megan progress in her racing and winning the TLI welsh cyclo cross champs at marsh tracks only got bike day before. going to the peaks weekend is one never to forget. a short cut up a path which lead to a vertical step climb scarred me. Doing my first lead ride round the dyfi forest with a weekend away for those who came i set a target of getting under 4 hrs on the dyfi enduro came in 3:53 took 25 mins out of the previous year and it also included a puncture stop so was really chuffed. and lastly to all i rode with this year the company was fantastic and a really joy. bring on 2013

Not done much mountain biking this year but here goes:
Llandegla to Prestatyn - Thanks again Russ.
Kielder100 - Tough but satisfying.
Lowlight - Dyfi Enduro. A great event but for some reason I never enjoy it!

Well for Me it was getting the old bike out of the shed cleaning it off then putting it back away and bought another bike and then realizing how unfit I was/am Highlight's was doing doing the 15 BHF ride in Rhyl, Next year 30 mile. Completing the Marin trail after a few attempts, Really pleased with myself in doing that. Completing Penmachno trail and having ago at some of the Beginners rides. It does get tough at times, but for me it's about achievement and enjoying our beautiful countryside, I plan to achieve further goals in 2013 .
