As some of you may be aware, MBNW has been affiliated to the CTC for the last two years. Although this does not have much impact on members, or the forum as a whole, it gives the administrators peace of mind knowing that we are covered by their insurance for ‘Third Party liability’.
For the last two years we have been very fortunate in the fact that Tweeks Cycles in Wrexham have generously paid the premium on our behalf, for which we are very grateful. However, this year we will be paying our own premium as we feel it is a bit cheeky to go cap in hand to Tweeks once again when the current economic climate is as tight as it is. This is in no way any reflection on Tweeks, as they have given outstanding service to us over the last number of years, and continue to do so. It is just that we feel a bit cheeky phoning them up and asking for £75, which they then have to put to their finance department etc.
So how are we going to pay the premium ? Well, many of you may remember that at the start of 2011, we made the decision to ask if people were willing to give a £1 donation during each monthly forum ride. This continued on and off for 2011, with many people contributing £1 at most forum rides (The only time we did not collect was when there was no-one present to collect the money), and at the end of the year we had £153 in an account for which I have access to. This money is still in the account and records of the income and any expenditure can be made available to anyone that wants to view them.
So our plan is to resurrect this donation during the Forum Rides for 2012. The donations are entirely voluntary and no-one will be under any pressure to give. There will be a designated person or persons at each forum ride that you can give your £1 to, and the names of these people will be posted up with the Forum Ride details, so everyone knows who to give their £1 to.
Please note that this is only valid for the monthly forum ride.
