As far as i know, Newborough is all flat. I think its all easy, family style trails round there, unless there's some sweet secret singletrack tucked away I don't know about

Just taken delivery of a 2.10 Maxxis ADvantage I've not tried mine at the Marin, but found they gave a lot of grip at Llandegla. Also found they dragged a fair bit compared to the CrossMark which I had on before (although they may have been getting like slicks when I replaced them). Not found them particularly good in thick mud though!

There's the sand dunes at the edge of the forest which aren't that small in places, so there might be some jumps.
Riding in all that sand does wonders for your bike ;D

Riding in all that sand does wonders for your bike ;D Too right, came out of there 2 weeks ago, bike sounded like an angle grinder. Went in to try out my 2.35 DH Minions. Grip like heck up the sandy bits, but really draggy on the forest parts. ADvantages 2.10 seem totally different!

I was on the Marin today. Bit of strimming being going on, no undergrowth spilling over onto the trail now. Sorry, did'nt manage to do any handlebar acrobatics today, although that Kenda Desert on the back, tried its hardest to flick me of on the downhills! It's coming off tomorrow and ADvantage going on back!

I noticed a load of shiny new signboards dotted around the Marin this evening. There was a map of the bike trail but I don't know what the other board was - maybe some useful info. Also a load of new footpath signs have gone up and some of the MTB route signposts have the 'warning- bike' signs on them now. The trail was a bit rough in places - there was a big gap in the rocks on the dragon's tail which I'd never seen before and it weren't half slippery in the drizzle/mist (came off right at the start on that big rock with the saw cuts in it ) Could have done with my Magicshine tonight, the Joystick was just enough but I could hardly see where I was going at times! No willy wave I'm afraid - it was under 2 hours but well over the 90 minute mark! (excuse it that it was dark)

Marin is deffo in need of a make over and someTLC time I don't think it's that bad! The rough bits were still easily rideable, I still think the worst bits are the begining (the slippy rock) and right at the end (more slippy rock), the rest is all good fun

Guys, just joined the site tonight as after loads of tips for good rides this year. Haven't been to the marin trail for over a year and it looks like it has some mixed reviews and some quick times. I really need to get fitter to get anywhere near the 2 hour mark. Any one been to the marin recently i am thinking about going in a couple of weeks.

Is there more than one carpark at the Marin? I parked up there last week and there was no Pay and Display meter, yet I keep reading about a £1 parking charge. Don't want to get caught out.

You can park in several places, but the main car park just out of Llanrwst hasn't had a working ticket machine for ages, although I think it did at some point not too long ago.
