There was an article on the BBC page last week about "Sexercise" sounds good even to a guy of my age!! ;D I've been trying to get out where possible for 1.5-2hr loops on the roadie and doing some sessions on the spinning bike in the gym, mind numbing stuff but I really need to start getting my arse in gear ready for the season. Been doing a little bit of a repeats program involving weights, explosive power and high power cycling intervals in the gym as well but that's more to benefit my timetrialing ability than mountain biking. ;D

I've been looking at alternative ways to keep fit when i cant use the bike - been ages for me with the broken frame and now the weather.
I'm seriously looking into getting myself a quality rowing machine. It looks one of the best bits of kit to give a good overall workout. I've had back problems caused by a weakness of the core muscles in my back for about 3 years now due to a serious badminton injury. I've actually just downloaded a 5-day free pass for Fitness First gym so will hopefully be able to speak to one of their trainers.
Anyone able to comment on the use of a rowing machine for general fitness training??

How'd you guess? something in May 4 Weeks each of Base, Pre-Season, Early-Season and Peak-Season, followed by 2 weeks tapering then Event week. I know I could reduce the Tapering down to a week, but it gives me some flexibility. Each 4 week period consists of Start, Build, Push and Recovery weeks. I've always had lots of endurance, it's my sustainable speed I need to improve on.

I've been out riding when I can for an hour, getting prodded by the physio and getting ready to move house. Things don't get much better as you can see ;D
