Getting out on the roadie and knocking the snacking on the head is my immediate plan of attack. I've had the maps out and plotted myself a couple of loops from the house which should be ideal for after I've got the kids into bed......just need to keep myself motivated.
There's a couple of photo's knocking about in the rides section that I could print off and stick on the fridge.......should do the job quite nicely!!!

Getting out on the roadie and knocking the snacking on the head is my immediate plan of attack Same here too. I'm not giving up completely on the vino or beer but binge drinking is out; unless its a special occasion, like a weekday or weekend I'm also going to commute to work, especially handy with the rise in the cost of fuel and further ones due. I'm also going to get into the habit of taking packed lunches to work, containing only low fat, healthy, nutritious food and nothing else until dinner. Drinking lots of water instead of tea, coffee and other dieretics. I'm lucky enough to have loads of natural trails on the doorstep so i'm aiming to get out at least a couple of times a week in the evenings and I'm going to re-start the 'Pen y Pass and Back' roadie time trial loop again too. I'm looking forward to it

Right then, 3 weeks of over-indulgence have left me at 13st 11lb ! I have a rather modest target of getting under 13st before the Tour of the Taverns so if I can drop a stone by then I'll be well chuffed So I'm of to the North Sea detox farm tomorrow for 2 weeks of drinking tea & biscuits......the fight begins today!

I've decided that Friday mornings will be my weekly weigh-in.
With little exercise due to a buggered knee and maybe one too many treats to get me through the day at work (amazing how quickly the mood can take a dive when you tell everyone they're out of a job!!) I wasn't expecting great things. So I was pleasantly surprised when I came in at 14st 11lbs.....a LOSS of three ponds, HURRAH!!

Weigh-in number 2 and a loss of around two pounds. I say 'around' two pounds because we've got those stupid scales with the spinning dial readout and you need eyes like a hawk to get an exact reading. Must invest in some digital ones.
Bottom line is I've lost weight again this week!!! :-)

nice one Dave stay strong , I'm dreading my weigh in next Thurs when I get home. I've been full of manflu and I've been trying to 'feed the cold' with half a packet of fruit shorties at every tea break! Although I haven't had any chips or pudding & custard the whole trip......it's killing me

Cheers guys.
So far it's purely down to reducing my calorie intake. At the moment I'm working all the hours I can to build up the coffers and when I'm not in work I'm replacing the skirting boards and architrave that the mrs decided to rip off the wall on new years day......so getting out on the bike is a no-go.
I'm going to try and get the road bike sorted tomorrow so I can get some miles in riding to work a couple of days a week. I'd rather be sat on the bike burning calories than sat in the car burning oil!!

I'd rather be sat on the bike burning calories than sat in the car burning oil!! It's a winning combination. The forecast is looking alright for Monday/Tuesday as well. Buried somewhere in the forum I think there are some tips on riding to work (take all your clothes in on one day etc.). Are you going straight to work or are you going the scenic route? It will also save you money on petrol which you can spend on bike bits - or save up.

It's got to be the scenic route.....don't fancy the A55/A550 route on the bike There's still one relatively dodgy section of road but after that it's plain sailing to Queensferry and then cycle paths all the way to work.

Where are you commuting from to queensferry then, I find the old coast road (a548) is OK for cycling as it's dual carriageway and not too busy, well lit also. If you can manage cycling to work once or twice a week in Jan, you'll be on it every day come the summer!

I'm nowhere near the coast road.....I'm coming at it from the other side of Hawarden.

You've got a nice little commute there i'd say, about the right distance to cycle a couple of times a week. Based on my biking to work experiences, my main tip would be... get there early to avoid having to walk into the office wearing a lycra gimp-suit!!
