Entered Mawr, give woody somwhere to hide for first half! About time, I was wondering when my own personal 'domestique' was going to sign up :-).

I've just come back from completing a recce drive around Eryri Ganol. For those of you entrered on the 103 miler, I salute you! As for me, I've entered the Ganol at 76miles and it's struck me that I have a ton of road miles to do in order to just get a finish! Man, it's tougher than I envisaged! The Drws y Coed hillclimb course is an evil 0.8 miler riddled with false summits, with a killer steep gradient square right just at the summit. The Wall, which I've had the experience of cycling up, on my Holyhead /Cardiff charity ride, is another killer 1.3 mile climb. The descent to Maentwrog is scary fast (one of the lads on the charity ride kept up with our support van which was doing 50 +mph !!). A sobering fact about the Maentwrog to Crimea Pass summit section, which is about 9km long, and half way round the 76 miler. Maentwrog is 20m above sea level, the top of the Crimea is 375m. My vans temp gauge even went up 5'C getting to the top! Another scary fast descent follows off the summit down to Dolwyddelan! . The long climb then from Betws to Pinnacle Cafe, before entering the wind tunnel from Plas y Brenin to Penygwryd and the Pen y Pass climb. Through to Llanberis then Cwm y Glo,before turning left for the Ceunant to Waunfawr climb and downhill to Caernarfon, via Dinas to the finish. I'd best buy a bucket of Assos cream for this one methinks!! Hoping to get my roadie by the weekend, to get my shaven legs whirring around! Have to get some miles in! Have to get some miles in! Have to get some miles in! Have to get some miles in!
