This is an event I did last year on my road bike and it was great. www.bhf.org.uk/events_and_volunteering/events/event_finder/view_event.aspx?ps=1000612A small group made up of friends and work collegues entered as a group and we raised over £200 There are 2 options distance wise of either 15 or 30miles, so its easily within everyones comfort zone. I'm either going to ride it on my road bike starting from wrexham and then doing the 30mile loop, bringing the total distance to approx 100miles Or if we can get a big group together it would be good to do it on the mtb's under the MBNW banner. Maybe even adopt a theme or fancy dress ;D Plenty of time to plan it, anyone else fancy joining me?

You could do the London-Brighton one instead Lack of fancy dress is frowned upon. Logistics is always the problem for that one though.

But I think it is our mission to make the NW ride just as good. Lets show them southerners how its done in a welsh stylee I've been speaking to some roadie mates and the wrexham start is a good option. But I must admit if we can get a good size group on the mtb's in fancy dress then that would be my preferred option

I'll do this with you and go for the 30 miles!! And if the rest of the "slow ones" don't volunteer themselves they can sponsor me and turn up on the day for support, scrape me up off the floor at the end and take me to A & E!!! I won't be biking from Wrexham however ;D I'm happy to bike on my own so won't hold anyone up! They say you have to finish by 4pm but don't mention a start time - can I start 4pm on the Saturday? ;D ;D

Just registerd before I changed my mind! I will do it with you Nickster (keep each other company at the back) I think we should all be fruit and veg! I wanna be a carrot but not sure how I would cope on the bike I did the Manchester to Liverpool charity ride a couple of years ago. god that was tough! The end was in Newsham Park and as I cycles along the pavement I was so exhausted that I just careered into some poor woman walking along with her shopping bags! she forgave me when I told her I had set off in Manchester 4 and a half hours earlier ;D

I have heard that the London-Brighton ride is a real blast. It is mental, just due to the sheer volume of people doing it. (10,000?) I've been speaking to some roadie mates ;D and the wrexham start is a good option. The ride there is nice, I went up to Bwlchwgyn then it's all mostly downhill to Ruthin and pretty flat for the rest. Coming back is a bit of a b*tch though because you have a decent uphill at the end (either up Nant y Garth and around Llandegla or the climb from Queensferry through Hawarden) Have you mapped out the route? I think it might be a bit over 100 miles (It was 101 miles from Wrexham to Rhos on Sea+back, and Rhos on Sea to Rhyl is about 15 miles each way) An extra 5 miles at the end would be really noticeable

If we're going for fancy dress then I think we should have a common theme Suggest we get a rough idea of who is entering, say by the first week in February and then based on costume suggestions make a poll. I'm thinking a welsh hill farmer costume, with a sheep on the cross bar in a Dan's avatar stylee ;D As far as sponsorship goes we can set up an online donation web address which will allow us to combine all the donations into one pot. Again I suggest we set this up in early february This really is a great event. I don't know how many entered last year but it was great fun and full of people of all persuasions and everything from 4k carbon racers to supermarket chopper copies with racoon tails ;D Looking forward to it already

I wouldn't worry about Boolie's suggestions of dressing up as fruit and veg - the woman is obsessed with it!!! lmao ;D I'm glad you are setting up a group page for sponsorship mtbman - As I didn't realise you already had this covered I tried to set one up for my sponsorship when I registered and somehow managed to end with a few pages and even one that said I was doing Manchester 100 - I think not!! ;D At least I can just ignore them now and saves me a lengthy call to their Help Desk!! lol!

Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool is a hoot too, seriously mental speeds on a road bike thru the Birkenhead tunnel as it's closed most of the day to cars.

I'll come and do this I think, just have to check it doesn't clash with a race. We could always go in our MBNW getups.
